Getting started with the homepage design

In this guide you’ll learn how to get started with changing your homepage design, including:

• How to access the customization mode

• How to publish changes

• How to change widget settings

• How to toggle the visibility of a widget

• How to add and delete widgets

• How to configure a sidebar on your homepage

Access Customization mode

1. Sign in to a community account with user role Community Manager or Administrator

2. Click the purple Customize button

Publish changes

When making changes in the customization mode you will see a live preview as a result of your changes, these changes are not directly visible to your end users yet. In order to apply the changes to your community (and make them visible to everyone) you’ll need to click the Publish button in the customization mode action bar.

Change widget settings

Hover over the widgets on the homepage. Look up the pencil icon (✏️) in the widget action bar. Click the icon to reveal the configuration sidebar with different settings like title, amount, images etc. After making changes, click the Done button located at the bottom of the sidebar. 

Toggle widget visibility

Hover over the widgets on the homepage. Look up the eye icon (👁) in the widget action bar. Click the icon to enable or disable the visibility of a widget. Disabled widgets can be recognized by the crossed eye icon and will never be shown to anyone outside the customization mode.

Delete widget

Hover over the widgets on the homepage. Look up the trashcan icon (🗑) in the widget action bar. Click the icon to instantly delete a widget. Be careful! There is no confirmation step, widgets are removed instantly.

Add widget

Hover over the homepage and determine where you want to add a widget. Click the plus icon (➕)  to see a list of available widgets (some widgets can only be added once). Pick a widget and configure its settings. After making changes click the Done button located at the bottom of the sidebar.

Add sidebar + widgets

1. Add ‘Container 2:1’ widget

2. Add widgets to Container (left frame)

3. Add widgets to Sidebar (right frame)

4. Click the Publish button in the customization mode action bar to publish all changes
