Do your members keep mistakenly posting topics within your 'official' categories? Make the category read-only using category permissions. This lets you control whether members can create topics or post comments in a specific category. For instance, restrict your 'News and Announcements' and your 'How Tos' categories so that members can only comment on them.

How To Restrict Members From Creating Posts In A Category

  1. Go to ControlPlatformCommunity
  2. Select the category you want to change and click Edit.
  3. To restrict users from creating topics or commenting revoke their Create topic or Create comments permissions
  4. Hit Save, and you’re done

    Note:

    • The switches in control determine the visibility of the functionality in your community. By default all the functionalities are visible for your users. In order to create a topic or post a comment users must have an activated account. Users awaiting email confirmation, Users awaiting moderator approval and Unregistered / non logged in users won’t be able to post.
    • Want a category in which only moderators and community managers can create new topics? Simply revoke Create topic permissions for normal members or change the category type to News.
    • Create a read-only category by revoking the Create topic and Create comments permissions of normal members.
