Important Update: Migration of our CC customers to Gainsight SSO

We heard you, and it is finally here! We’re thrilled to share that we will soon be starting our migration and implementation of Single Sign-On (SSO) for Gainsight Customer Communities!In March 2024 we will start migrating all of our CC customers to the Gainsight Platform Single Sign-On (SSO) or SAML authentication (depending on your situation). By the end of April all of our CC customers will have been migrated.Why is this important?This is a significant upgrade to our authentication system that makes it easier and more secure for our customers to log in to Gainsight Customer Communities.Following the migration, Administrators, Community Managers, and Moderators will utilize Gainsight Platform SSO to access both the front-end and the control environment of their community, and can seamlessly switch between Gainsight products. And with the option of configuring SAML authentication it will also be possible to set up identity and access management for employees through platforms such as

What is the Module and Key for phrase: By replying to a group topic, you will become a group member automatically. ?

Hello! I just discovered with my test user (registered user role) in my productive community, that there’s a (new?) phrase: By replying to a group topic, you will become a group member automatically. This phrase is not displayed for my admin user when user is not part of group:So, I gave my test user the admin role, but phrase is not editable (Edge, Chrome, Firefox):I also cannot find it in the Phrases in Control.→ What is the Module and Key for this phrase? Can someone kindly share this?Thanks!

Optimizing Dynamic Content Widget for mobile

Hi!Trying to make use of the dynamic content and featured topics widget, but I’m not a fan of carousel layout when viewed on a mobile. Does anybody know a way (with custom css or other workarounds) to remove the carousel feature, and make it into 2 columns when in mobile view? We have done this with a custom html element, but it’s harder with a built in component :) How it is now: How i would like it to be: (just the layout) EDIT: Same goes for the Featured Topics Widget.

Gainsight and Confluence Integration

Hello,We are working on a customer community platform using Gainsight and we have run into a bit of a tech issue. Our company has an existing knowledge base on Confluence that we were hoping to integrate with the Gainsight platform, so people can search our Confluence Knowledge Base directly from the customer community we’re using Gainsight to build.I’ve been told that there should be an out of the box connector for us to merge/connect the two, but I’ve been unable to find it, or any documentation for it.How can we connect out Confluence Knowledge Base with Gainsight? If that’s even possible?

Topic and the timestamp popup, where to edit?

Is there a workaround to move comments out of a product Update?

Hi,We currently have one topic in our community which we would like to escalate to the next level so it reaches our Product Team. Members are commenting EVERYWHERE the theme pops up. In order to keep an overview and being able to work on the feedback, we have clustered the different aspects the comments are mostly focusing on. We have channeled the feedback in 4 Main Threads and will merge them into ideas so that our Product Teams can work with it in Ideation.Challenge: We have a few comments on several aspects in a Product Update which we would like to add to those 4 main Threads, depending on the topic. Is there some way to do this? I am aware that this isn’t possible directly, I already voted for @DannyPancratz idea: Best,Lena

Can I move a comment from the support area into Ideation?

Hi operations Pro’s,can I move comments and postings from the Support area into an idea?I do get an error message. Usually when something isn’t possible to be merged the field specifies.I am unsure if this is a continuous limitation of the product or an error. Best, Lena

Custom Customer Directory

Given that Gainsight has not implemented this functionality despite it being a feature request for over 5 years, it seems unlikely to happen soon. Here is the product idea if anyone else wants to upvote We're considering building it ourselves.If anyone has experience with this using a developer, we would greatly appreciate examples or feedback on the best approach. Experience with using form in Customer Community to create a CSQL in CS?

Hello all, I am wondering if anyone has used a form in their customer community to create a record in Gainsight CS, such as a CSQL? We have a use case where customers can add (and remove) quantities from their subscription at any time during a contract year. Right now, there is a lot of manual handoff of this information via email. The customer emails the CSM or CS Pool, we send the customer a form, the form is returned, an Opportunity is manually created, etc. What we are interested in figuring out is whether customers could fill out a form in community with the required data, and when that form is submitted, automatically create a CSQL (via a rule, say) in Gainsight CS?We are brand new to CC--our community is not live yet. We have been using Gainsight CS for two years, but have not yet configured CSQL functionality. But we like the idea of making this transaction easy for the customer to initiate, and having it co-located in the community, a space we want to encourage them to use reg

The Smartly.io Community is finally going live with a hybrid event facilitated in part by the community, what do you think?

After a few months of setting up InSided and inviting our customers to the platform we are finally opening up to a wider audience and kicking things off with an event: Sofa Summit is a social advertising event, much like the theme of our community which will take place today 28th April at 3pm ET, with a live part in NYC.Event registration.The Smartly.io Community.The online event consists of a live stream and a live chat much like most events; but we’ve created a community group tied to the event, and all content posted on the community group will show on the event page in live allowing people to take part in the conversations and topics of the event. Private messages - emojis doesnt work at the moment

We just noticed that emojis doesnt work in private messages. When you press emoji icon, nothing happens. This occurs in our community and here as well. We have tested with Chrome and Firefox.

Adding a "create a topic/post" button lower down on the screen

Hi all, Is it possible to add a Create a post button lower down on the page than the one in the top header? I have been running some beta calls with some of our early adopters prior to launching in January and the main thing coming back is that the create button is not in the expected place when a user is in a category itself. they are expecting it to be at the top of the category feed. I can’t find a way to customise the category pages in this way, is it possible? Thanks!Ellie

Taking a community from private to public

We are planning on taking our community from private (customers only) to having the public be able to view content (that isn’t part of a private group or category) and only having customers be able to login and engage.Has anyone done this and do you have any tips/pitfalls to watch out for?

Has anybody seen this and found a way of getting out of it?

It seems that there is something wrong with our Community and because I have no way of checking logs, hard resetting or soft resetting, I am somewhat lost as to how to get around this. Our Product Updates Content screen shows me this error whatever I try… Since the new SSO feature was pushed out, it is impossible to log out of the admin console without shutting the whole browser down. I was thinking that this *could* be connected. But that is an assumption based on not having seen this issue before and not having needed to use this screen since the SSO feature was pushed out. We also had a few issues with the new feature when it was initially pushed out...but that was blocking us from actually getting access.If anyone has seen this and knows of a secret “click combination” (in the style of the old game console “cheats”), I’d really appreciate a heads up 😉

Can I subscribe to release notes?

I just discovered the Gainsight CC Release Notes via the Knowledge Center Bot added to the backend Admin Control. I’ve never seen these before.I can’t find a way to subscribe to these when they’re published. Is there any way to do so? If not, is there a set cadence on which I should check back?

I am receiving an "invalid_client" error when using OIDC for SSO

I tried to setup OIDC SSO option for the new RingCentral community. I believe I have set everything up correctly… but I am receiving an “invalid_client” error when I attempt to test the authentication setup. One field I am unfamiliar with is “Issuer.” I have that set to “https://ringcentral.com,” but don’t know if that is correct. The client ID and secret should be valid. I have double checked to make sure those were entered correctly. Any ideas?

Gainsight what did you do to fix your buttons?

Hey I’m using the custom code to have 4 horizontal buttons on my home page. This morning it went south and the buttons started rendering weird. I came to the gainsight community and noticed you all were having the same issue,so I assumed you were on it and we’d see a fix soon. Looks like you’re fixed now, but my site is not. Is there a patch or fix I need to deploy?
