Sometimes you want to close an article for new replies:

  • It is a generic FAQ and you want to prevent users from asking their question
  • You have another discussion topic for their feedback or want to drive users to start their own questions
  • It is a sensitive or polarising topic and you don't want users to reply to it

In this FAQ you can learn everything you need to know around closing articles.

General information

It is important to mention that closed articles will only deny end users to reply - users who are active in the Control Environment will still be able to respond.
This is handy as you might still want to share an update in a reply, without giving other users the opportunity to do so.

How to close an article for new replies

You can find the setting at the top of every published article, in the Options section:

When you create a new article in the Control Environment (or if you are working in a Draft), this option can be found in the menu on the right side of the page. Uncheck the "Allow replies" checkbox and the article will be closed:

How closed articles are being displayed

When a user is in an article and scrolls to the end (of the article, or the latest reply), the user will see this message:

The color will be defined by the "info color" which can be changed in the [Appearance] page in your Control Environment.

Tip: You can also change the text by activating the "Live Edit"-button in the front-end and by clicking on "edit" next to the text string in the button.

In the Control Environment, you will be able to see that an article is closed for new comments by the hand of this label:
